Connecting With the Craft Beer Revolution

Even the largest brewing companies in the world most likely started in someone’s basement. The craft beer movement is propelled by home brewing. Samuel Adam’s, for example, is a vastly popular brewing company that began in the founder’s kitchen.

The idea of building your own home brewing setup may seem daunting; however, there are sites out there to help. Homebrewingtalk.com is a great resource for those new to the brewing process. Here you can learn more about equipment, ask questions, and find other like-minded individuals to help.

For those of you that don’t want to go through the trouble of building a brewery in your basement; there is Untapped. Possibly one of the founder’s favorite apps in existence; at Untapped you can catalog what beers you have enjoyed and post it for others to see. Untapped is the Good Reads.com of beer, and is great for the most seasoned beer drinking, or someone hoisting their first pint.

Oktoberfest: A History of the World’s Largest Beer Festival

In lite of Bear Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest seasonal ale, a history of Oktoberfest seems prudent. Most would imagine that Oktoberfest begins in October; however, this is not the case. Traditionally Oktoberfest begins in the third week of September, and ends in the first Sunday of October. At the Bear Brewing Company, we wish Oktoberfest lasted all year. For this reason, our Oktoberfest brew will be available until Thanksgiving. It is a great beer for all of the autumn season.

As with many celebrations of the day, Oktoberfest began as a celebration of a royal wedding. Oktoberfest originates in Munich.  On October 12, 1810 Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. The fields at the gate of Munich were hence renamed Theresienwiese (meaning Therese’s Fields).

As the years passed the celebrations continued at this location. Through the years horse races, carnival attractions, and of course, beer halls were the primary attractions. Oktoberfest celebrations 180 years of tradition, the only years Oktoberfest was cancelled were in times of war or epidemic. Munich’s Oktoberfest is now the world’s largest, and it celebrates two hundred years of honored beer-drinking tradition. As autumn stretches on into another long winter our Oktoberfest will keep you warm, and celebrates two centuries of the best brewers in the world.

Beer! Tasty…Delicious…Nutritious

When it comes to alcohol many focus on the negative effects that are associated with moderate to heavy alcohol consumption; however, this is not the entire story. Numerous studies have shown many benefits to daily consumption of beer.
Beer contains silicon which is a vital component of bone density and health. That’s right, drinking beer can help keep your bones strong and healthy.  Beer can even fight the effects of, or even prevent, Osteoporosis.

The benefits don’t stop there however; beer has been proven to help numerous aliments. Beer can help prevent Alzheimer’s (and you thought beer made you forget!), diabetes and, even heart disease. Beer is also quite neutrinos. The components of beer (hops and barley) are grains that contain fiber, zinc niacin, and B vitamins. These are important parts of a healthy diet and lifestyle. This brewer says to raise your glass proudly. The once eldest women alive had a simple adage to account for her longevity:  “Everything in moderation” a truer statement has never been uttered. Don’t let the nay-sayers fool you; beer can be good for you!

Can I Get a "Cheers" for Facebook?

The Bear Brewing Company is now on Facebook. As the world’s most popular social media site it is important for any business to utilize this free medium. The Facebook page is integrated with each of our other social media outlets, this blog and Twitter.
Facebook has fast become a significant part of marketing strategies for many companies. Bear

Brewing Company can now be added to the list of organizations utilizing Facebook as a marketing tool; that being said, many marketers do not use Facebook to its utter most potential. Buddy Media has complied statistics regarding when users are visible on Facebook; as well as, when businesses are posting. Many businesses fail to use Facebook during its optimal time to reach their target market. In the food and beverage industries an opportunity exists to post more on weekends. Most brands post during the work week, while most users are more accessible on weekends. In short, markets are missing the boat. Saturday and Sunday represent vast opportunities to reach the target market.

Food (or in this case beverage) for thought…

  • Post during non-busy hours (8PM-7AM)—non-busy hours receive 14% higher interaction than during busier hours.
  • Post 1-2 timers per day
  •  No more than 7 posts per week—with the saturation of advertising in social media there can be too much of a good thing
  • Short and sweet—keep posts to eighty characters or less
  •  A picture is worth a thousand words—posts including photos receive 39% more interaction over traditional posts
  • Generate feedback with questions—the use of questions has been shown to increase comments by as much as 92%
